About the position

The Fire Alarm Inspector IV is responsible for conducting routine inspections, testing, servicing, and preventative maintenance on electrical, sprinkler, or suppression life safety product lines. This role involves working with low voltage wiring and associated devices, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining a structured inspection schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and testing of life safety product lines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical, sprinkler, or suppression systems.
  • Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices.
  • Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding via laptop or hard copy.
  • Follow and maintain a structured inspection schedule.
  • Input, retrieve, and archive inspection documents using a laptop.
  • Complete assigned inspections on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Five to ten years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems and Fire and/or Life Safety Systems.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual positions such as climbing ladders and working in crawl spaces.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
  • Willingness to travel out of town, including overnight lodging.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to work well with others and be a self-starter.
  • Strong organizational skills and a positive attitude.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and meet company driving record requirements.
  • Able to obtain and retain required licenses by National, State, and Local codes.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of the Inspector Entrée Course (Electrical or Sprinkler).
  • Achieve NICET Level II certification after 2 years on the job.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and operational manuals.
  • 1-3 years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems preferred.
  • NICET certification preferred.
