About the position

The Fire Alarm Inspector I position involves conducting routine inspections, testing, servicing, and preventative maintenance on various life safety product lines, including electrical, sprinkler, and suppression systems. The role requires working with low voltage wiring and ensuring compliance with safety guidelines while providing technical training to less experienced inspectors.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and testing of fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on life safety product lines.
  • Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices.
  • Complete service acknowledgements using communication devices.
  • Maintain a structured inspection schedule.
  • Input, retrieve, and archive inspection documents via laptop.
  • Make minor repairs and programming changes to inspected systems.
  • Provide technical training to less senior inspectors and trainees.
  • Complete assigned inspections on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Fire alarm license required.
  • 1 to 2 years of documented service experience in fire alarm or fire sprinkler.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and operational manuals.
  • Proficient in using hand tools and multi-meters.
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing repairs.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of performing physical labor, including lifting equipment up to 70 lbs.
  • Able to work in difficult positions such as climbing ladders and working in crawl spaces.
  • Flexibility to work weekends as needed.
  • Adherence to safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and retain required licenses.
