About the position
The Financial Institution Internship (FII) is a paid internship designed for students pursuing a degree in relevant fields. This internship may lead to a post-graduation employment offer as a Financial Institution Specialist, which is part of a three and a half year program culminating in a professional certification as a commissioned Financial Institution Examiner. Interns will work closely with experienced FDIC employees in the Division of Risk Management Supervision, evaluating bank operations and risk management strategies.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate bank operations, business planning, and risk management strategies.
- Conduct reviews and assessments of financial reports and internal controls.
- Assist in the preparation of information for thorough analysis of earnings of financial institutions.
- Prepare drafts of schedules, exhibits, and comments for examination reports.
- Participate in audit test checks on income and expense accounts.
- Compute capital ratios and reconcile capital accounts.
- Review liquidity and analyze fluctuations in loans, securities, deposits, and borrowings.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled as a student in an accredited 4-year college or university at least half-time.
- Must have completed at least the sophomore year in college upon entry to the program.
- Must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 throughout the internship.
- Must have completed two full academic years towards the degree by the first day of employment.
- Must submit all required documents by the closing date of the announcement.
