About the position

The Financial Care Specialist I (Customer Service) at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center provides essential patient relations support to the Patient Financial Services department. This role involves addressing customer inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring timely payment and resolution of accounts. The position requires advanced knowledge of the revenue cycle and strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with patients and deescalate issues. The specialist will work independently, utilizing analytic skills to interpret payor contracts and billing policies, while also maintaining high standards of documentation and account management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient relations support to Patient Financial Services.
  • Identify, analyze, resolve, and respond to customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Follow up on accounts to ensure payment and resolution.
  • Monitor assigned work queues and workload for timely account resolution.
  • Negotiate and document payment plans within established policies.
  • Initiate collection calls to patients and insurance companies for unresolved accounts.
  • Maintain acceptable levels of speed and accuracy in account management.
  • Respond to inquiries from patients, insurance companies, and authorized third parties.
  • Share knowledge and assist other team members as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of hospital billing or professional billing experience required.
  • Customer service and call center experience required.
  • Associate degree in business administration or related field preferred.
