About the position

HF Sinclair in Dallas is seeking a Financial Analyst to conduct complex financial analysis with minimal supervision and acts as a technical resource for less experienced personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research, performs analysis, develops various financial and/or forecasting models, and makes recommendations to support management decisions for the effective utilization of the Company's financial assets
  • Analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial plans, acquisition activity, financial trends, and operating forecasts
  • Provides analysis in financial budgeting and planning and promotes management's understanding of financial data and performance
  • Performs analysis on various financial reports (e.g. cash management, pricing strategies, others) and maintains historical data
  • Identifies and implements changes that improve efficiency and effectiveness of operational decision making
  • Provides analytical support in capital expenditure and cost variation analysis
  • Prepares, reviews, and presents financial reports to management or board of directors using various communication methods and settings
  • May create and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual reports and ensure accuracy of financial information
  • Provides analysis, reports and answers to ad-hoc questions to management and internal departments
  • Maintains and ensures the accuracy of the company's internal financial database
  • Establishes partnerships and relationships with peers and functional leaders
  • Operates with minimal supervision and is able to make informed, well-reasoned decisions independently

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years of directly related experience, or eight years general accounting or finance experience are required
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, in accounting, finance or related field, is required
  • Ability to perform complex financial analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products and experience with financial software
  • Strong understanding of finance concepts and procedures
  • Proficient with spreadsheet, database and word processing applications
  • Good analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Knowledge of banking industry as needed
  • Detail oriented; ability to work independently
  • Good understanding of financial risk and mitigation
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others, both in written and verbal communication
  • Intermediate reading and writing skills
  • Ability to perform intermediate to advanced mathematical calculations

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree or CPA is preferred
