About The Position

GreenShield is a not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to improving the health of all Canadians. As a unique entity that combines coverage and care, GreenShield is seeking a Financial Analyst to join its Corporate Accounting team. This role is crucial for accurate and timely financial reporting, planning, and analysis. The Financial Analyst will work with both internal and external parties to achieve results, focusing on receivables reporting, reconciliations, monthly revenue analysis, and month-end functions. The position involves reviewing outstanding accounts receivable balances, liaising with departments for information and client requests, performing Balance Sheet account reconciliations, and assisting with month-end deliverables, including financial statements and reporting requirements. The role also supports internal and external audit requests, new initiatives, evolving technologies, and ensures compliance with relevant standards and guidelines. The Financial Analyst will contribute to the organization's mission, vision, and values, and help resolve issues related to organizational performance and efficiency. Other tasks as required.

Requirements

  • University degree or college diploma in Business Administration, accounting or related discipline.
  • Three or more years of experience in a Finance team.
  • Competent in current accounting principles and guidelines and all relevant legislation and governance requirements.
  • Ability to research and analyze issues and clearly communicate solutions.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently.
  • Strong business acumen and experience in discerning priorities and critical accountabilities.
  • Positive attitude and hands-on approach in proactively partnering with GSC employees at all levels to achieve results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills; confident, credible and personable.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage concurrent deliverables, competing priorities and work effectively.
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated high level of integrity and ethics.
  • Professional with a strong and responsive service orientation.
  • Strong administrative, reporting, and analytical skills using MS Office tools.
  • Proficiency in English is required.

Responsibilities

  • Integral member of the Corporate Accounting team with a focus on receivables reporting and reconciliations, monthly revenue analysis, and month end functions.
  • Review and analysis of outstanding accounts receivable balances for potential issues and resolution.
  • Liaise with and be the initial point of contact for departments to obtain information, manage client requests and maintain established relationships.
  • Perform Balance Sheet account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations and other related accounting documents/schedules.
  • Integral member of the Finance team by aiding in completing month end deliverables, including preparation and review of portions of monthly financial statements and reporting requirements, both internal and external.
  • Responsible for assistance with internal and external audit requests.
  • Support new initiatives, evolving technologies, evolving standards and financial requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with government agencies, tax authorities, accounting standards and other internal control guidelines.
  • Support the department consistent with Green Shield Canada’s Mission, Vision and Values, and support achievement of the department’s goals and objectives.
  • Liaise with others to identify and resolve issues related to the organization’s performance and operating efficiency.
