About the position

Securian Specialty Lines, Inc., a dynamic subsidiary of Securian Casualty Company within Securian Financial, is seeking a talented Financial Accountant to join our Affinity Solutions Financial Planning and Analysis team. In this role, you will leverage your accounting expertise, particularly in financial statements and audit procedures, to oversee financial reporting and accounting duties, support regulatory filings, and assist with audits for our new surplus lines company. Reporting to the Financial Planning and Analysis Supervisor in our Macon, GA office, you will collaborate with a dedicated team committed to excellence and innovation. Responsibilities

  • Perform accounting tasks such as reconciliations, profit share calculations, and ad hoc financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Deliver financial analysis and reporting for Securian Specialty Lines, Inc., providing timely insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for annual external audits.
  • Act as the liaison for Department of Insurance reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Supervise Managing General Agent (MGA) activities, including audits, onsite visit coordination, and report preparation.
  • Handle due diligence questionnaires, evaluate MGA/TPA responses, and conduct third-party risk assessments.
  • Support special projects as assigned, aiding in the success of business initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • In-depth understanding of financial reporting, compliance, and auditing processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook.
