About the position

The Finance and Business teacher is responsible for leading students toward their intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. The role aims to help students develop the competencies and skills necessary to function successfully in society. The teacher will instruct assigned classes, maintain a conducive learning environment, and prepare for classes while adhering to the effective schools research framework. The position requires a commitment to student development and collaboration with staff and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and times.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
  • Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students and materials.
  • Evaluate student progress regularly.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
  • Assist in formulating and enforcing school rules and regulations.
  • Be available to students and parents for educational-related purposes outside instructional hours.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
  • Cooperate with staff in planning instructional goals and methods.
  • Assist in the selection of instructional materials.
  • Establish and maintain professional relations with others.
  • Communicate with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  • Pursue professional growth through workshops, seminars, and advanced coursework.
  • Accept responsibilities for co-curricular activities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years wage earning experience in at least one business occupation.
  • Valid classroom teaching certificate.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Business and Finance Certificate from SBEC.
  • Approval for Business and Finance from a Texas Approved Educator Preparation Program.
  • Bilingual Certificate.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of effective schools research.
  • Understanding of principles of accreditation standards.
  • Familiarity with Texas Education Agency requirements.
  • Knowledge of teaching techniques and methodology.
  • Understanding of child development processes and special needs of exceptional learners.
