About the position

The Film Production, Media & Design Instructor at District of Columbia International School (DCI) is a full-time teaching role responsible for delivering IB Art education to middle school students. The instructor will utilize a variety of technology platforms to enhance instruction and engage students in a culturally diverse learning environment. This position emphasizes the integration of the International Baccalaureate curriculum and aims to empower students through creative expression in film and media.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional Visual Art/Film instruction to diverse learners in English and/or a target language.
  • Plan curriculum using a deep understanding of the IB Visual Art/Film curriculum framework.
  • Advise students and teach an advisory class using the school's advisory curriculum.
  • Support other aspects of the school's instructional program.
  • Manage the classroom learning environment to maximize student engagement and learning.
  • Implement feedback for real-time improvement in teaching methods.
  • Engage in professional development to enhance instructional delivery.
  • Collaborate with general and special educators, coordinators, and leadership.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and students through various mediums.
  • Lead and participate in cultural activities that embrace French, Spanish, and Chinese cultures.
  • Ensure effective implementation of the 1:1 Chromebooks program by integrating technology into instruction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • A Master's Degree in secondary education or this content area is preferred.
  • Previous experience teaching in this content area is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to use multiple technology platforms for instruction and communication.
  • Proficiency with G-Suite tools, including Gmail.

  • Ability to handle the intensity of a high-performing charter school environment.
