About the position

The Systems Engineer is responsible for all onsite and remote consulting, service and support as well as implementation, maintaining the design and integrity of the network, infrastructure, security, applications and projects. This relates to all technology, to include: Cloud, network, servers, computers, mobile devices, firewalls, switching, SAN’s, wireless, remote access, active directory, data, backup and recovery, 3rd party vendors, custom software and services such as Exchange, SharePoint, SQL, etc.

Responsibilities

  • IT consulting and support relating to technical issues involving Microsoft's core business applications, as well as virtual environments built on Citrix, Microsoft, and VMware
  • Microsoft Azure, Intune, Entra and 365 implementations
  • Design, implementation, and support services for Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, etc.
  • Engineer and implement system solutions for customers using technologies that meet their needs
  • Implement and support disaster recovery solutions
  • Technical services and support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security
  • Remote access solution implementation and support: VPN, Terminal Services, and Citrix
  • System documentation and consulting services to include system reviews and recommendations
  • Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
  • Demonstrate and communicate value with every client interaction
  • Improve customer service, perception, and satisfaction
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively
  • Escalate service issues that cannot be completed within agreed service levels
  • Business awareness: specific knowledge of the customer and how IT relates to their business strategy and goals
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the service catalog and how it relates to customer’s needs
  • Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing tickets and entering time and expenses in ConnectWise as it occurs
  • Work through a daily schedule in ConnectWise that has been established through the dispatch process
  • Understand processes in ConnectWise by completing assigned training materials and blueprints on the ConnectWise University
  • Review IT publications and online materials to remain up to date with current and future technologies emerging in the industry

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years hands-on experience in an Active Directory, Azure and associated Windows Server platforms
  • Professional IT Certifications, such as: Associates degree or equivalent experience, Microsoft MCP, MCSA, or MCSE, SonicWall CSSA, Cisco CCNA, or VMware VCP
  • Experience with advanced server technologies including — VMware, Hyper-V, VDI, SAN’s, SQL, Citrix, Terminal Services
  • Interpersonal skills: such as phone skills, communication skills, active listening and excellent customer service skills and organization skills are a must
  • Experience with Firewall configuration of Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet and SonicWALL
  • Experience on VLAN’s, Hardware and Software VPN, Managed Switches, Routers and acceptable configurations
  • Network security, intrusion detection, penetration testing, firewall and assessments
  • Experience with Cabling standards, fiber and wireless
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment
  • Must be a positive team member, common sense, excellent client interaction skills, self-motivated, possessing honesty and integrity
