About the position

The Field Service Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial trucks and construction equipment. This role involves diagnosing malfunctions, performing mechanical repairs, and ensuring equipment meets customer specifications. The technician represents Equipment Depot to customers and is expected to maintain a professional image while managing service-related tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Reads work orders and observes trucks in operation to diagnose problems.
  • Offers solutions to meet customer specifications and provides estimates when appropriate.
  • Makes mechanical repairs to equipment after a complete inspection and analysis of breakdowns.
  • Records complete repair descriptions on work orders, including model and serial numbers.
  • Obtains customer signatures and communicates repair needs or completed work.
  • Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and makes adjustments.
  • Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired trucks to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Maintains the professional image of self and cleanliness of the service van.
  • Tracks and schedules routine maintenance for the service van with operations or service manager.
  • Returns paperwork to the field service coordinator daily, including work orders and fuel receipts.
  • Submits time cards by 9:00 a.m. daily.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of internet software and basic computer skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to perform basic math operations and interpret data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in mechanical repairs of industrial trucks or construction equipment.
