About the position

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Field Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing on-site support, maintenance, and repair services for our industrial automation equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge or have a mechatronic background, and the ability to analyze issues effectively while ensuring high standards of safety and quality in all tasks performed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of German industrial automation equipment at customer sites.
  • Conduct service and maintenance work.
  • Troubleshoot machine and system checks.
  • Provide customer training.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments and tools to ensure accurate diagnostics and repairs.
  • Operate scissor lifts safely to access elevated work areas.
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders and maintenance schedules.
  • Execute stick welding tasks as required during repairs or installations.
  • Analyze equipment performance and recommend improvements or upgrades.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients regarding service status, recommendations, and follow-up actions.
  • Document all service activities accurately in reports.
  • Act as a technical interface between customer, US home office, and German headquarters.
  • Provide technical clarifications with US partners and suppliers regarding spare parts, drawings, etc.
  • Work proficiently with layouts, drawings, and equipment documentation, including the metric system.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Field Service Technician or in a similar role within the industrial sector, preferably in the heavy clay industry or other ceramics industries.
  • Strong mechanical or mechatronic knowledge with hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairing industrial automation equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • A background in industrial mechanics, mechatronics, or related fields is required.
  • Willingness to travel including weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with precision measuring instruments.
  • Experience with stick welding.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
