About the position

This is a skilled position responsible for the installation, setup, repair, and ongoing maintenance of vending, cooling, and/or fountain equipment at customer accounts. The role involves diagnosing equipment problems and using judgment to determine the best course of action for repair or replacement. The position requires independent work and frequent customer contact. Physical demands include lifting, carrying, pulling, and moving items between 20 and 45 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday, as well as kneeling, squatting, crouching, crawling, and bending when making repairs, often in low places. Additionally, the position may require moving vending machines weighing between 800-1200 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and perform preventative maintenance on marketing equipment
  • Unload and reload products as necessary
  • Educate customers on basic equipment repair and upkeep procedures
  • Install equipment by making holes and routing lines to connect products to dispensing units, connecting water and gas supply, and finding drains for units with ice
  • Fill installed equipment and adjust to proper mixture
  • Prioritize and schedule service and PM calls to meet customer service windows
  • Drive to location, evaluate situation, and perform necessary work (may include plumbing, electricity, refrigeration, carpentry)
  • Collect accurate and complete equipment and customer information
  • Remove old parts and replace with new parts
  • Maintain parts inventory on service truck
  • Establish positive relationships with contacts at service calls
  • Complete paperwork on job after each call and call in paperwork every two hours
  • Transport miscellaneous items (e.g., compressors for repair/scrap, cardboard for recycle, etc.)
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be 21 years or older if CDL is required
  • Valid CDL license with Non-Excepted Interstate Status (if applicable)
  • Pass DOT Physical and DOT Road-test (if required)
  • Adhere to DOT Regulations
  • Senior technician requires certification in refrigeration
  • Must be able to pass refrigeration certification Type I/Type II practices (if applicable)

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with mechanical systems (e.g., troubleshooting and repairing appliances, performing basic household repairs in plumbing, circuits, fuses, and electrical components)
  • Experience serving customers (e.g., resolving customer issues, ensuring appropriate communication with store managers)
  • Experience working with basic refrigeration systems (e.g., understanding refrigeration cycle, Freon, compressors, evaporators, condensers)
  • Experience working with electrical systems (e.g., understanding flow, wiring, outlets)
  • Experience working with plumbing (e.g., working with drains, water supply, ice makers, shut-off valves)
  • Experience generating and setting work schedules (e.g., determining priority of work)
  • Experience with equipment installation (e.g., HVAC, refrigeration, auto, copiers, fountain products)
