About the position

Farrel Corporation is seeking a Field Service Mechanical Technician to support machine installation, startup, training, repairs, and preventative maintenance. This role involves significant travel to customer sites both domestically and internationally, requiring strong mechanical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems independently.

Responsibilities

  • Install new equipment at customer facilities, ensuring proper integration of all components and assemblies.
  • Work from drawings, engineering data, assembly, and operating instructions.
  • Direct, instruct, and advise customer personnel on methods, schedules, safety practices, and other matters affecting assembly, operation, and servicing of equipment.
  • Perform on-site troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
  • Prepare service reports documenting job duties performed.
  • Identify and coordinate parts required for repair with the customer service department.
  • Travel to worldwide customer sites for service and support.
  • Suggest and recommend corrective actions for equipment issues.
  • Assist production in the assembly shop when not traveling to client sites.
  • Follow standard safety regulations and maintain a clean work area.
  • Present customer training seminars on equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of experience in installation and repair of machinery.
  • 4 years of mechanical knowledge and experience.
  • Advanced mechanical skills and experience handling heavy machinery, parts, and components.
  • Electrical engineering experience is desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and machine specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and with others.

  • Experience in customer service roles.
  • Ability to creatively and independently troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
