About the position

The Field Service Mechanic at Sudden Service, Inc. is responsible for providing on-site service and repair for Taylor Machine Works' equipment. This role involves diagnosing malfunctions, performing repairs, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and service delivery. The mechanic will work closely with the Service Supervisor to prioritize tasks and maintain a high standard of service, contributing to the company's reputation and customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Consults with Service Supervisor to plan effective work and travel schedule, prioritizing customer needs.
• Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs or replaces worn and defective parts.
• Installs new assemblies, adjusts devices and controls to correct malfunctions.
• Provides tools and parts and arranges for facilities to perform repair work on customer premises.
• Inspects, operates, and tests machines upon initial delivery and after repairs to ensure proper functioning.
• Reports to Service Supervisor on customer details, machine descriptions, and time involved for accurate billing.
• Strives to increase technical skills through training and reading technical literature.
• Maintains a neat personal appearance and keeps the service truck clean and orderly.
• Serves as a troubleshooter for recurring or unusual problems and trains new servicemen.

Requirements

• Some vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair.
• Three years of on-the-job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other technical material.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
