About The Position
This is a part-time position at the agronomy farm assisting with corn breeding research. The role involves preparing seeds, planting, crop management, data collection, sample processing, performing crosses, harvesting, and seed management. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check are required, in addition to standard background checks.
Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must successfully complete a motor vehicle records check.
- Must successfully complete background check(s).
Responsibilities
- Prepare corn seeds for machine planting at the agronomy farm.
- Assist in planting, corn crop management, and follow agronomic practices.
- Collect various plant data starting from seed germination to maturity.
- Collect and bring samples to the lab for PCR based genotyping.
- Perform crosses and selves of selected plants.
- Harvest and send samples for analysis.
- Perform seed collection, drying, storage, and cataloguing.
