About the position

The Field Inspector at Gassen Company is responsible for ensuring the health and maintenance of properties managed by the company. This role involves conducting regular property assessments, identifying maintenance issues, assisting with long-term planning, and supporting the project management team. The inspector will also focus on roofing and siding inspections, particularly for hail damage, and will play a key role in the insurance claim process for storm-related damages.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough site inspections of assigned properties on a quarterly basis to assess overall property health, focusing on key systems such as roofing, siding, structural components, and common areas.
  • Identify and report potential maintenance issues, generating work orders as necessary.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Property Managers, and Association Boards to assist in developing and updating long-term maintenance and improvement plans for each property.
  • Provide property-specific information, inspection reports, and recommendations to assist the Project Bid Team in developing accurate and competitive project bids.
  • Act as a liaison in the insurance claims process related to property damage, particularly for roofs and siding.
  • Maintain clear, consistent, and professional communication with property managers, association boards, and clients.
  • Be available to provide on-the-ground support in the event of emergencies or urgent property issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date records of all inspections, maintenance recommendations, and completed repairs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in property management, construction, maintenance, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and client interaction.
  • Basic understanding of construction, roofing systems, building envelopes, and property maintenance.
  • Ability to use inspection software, mobile applications, and digital photography tools to document property conditions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with roofing and siding inspections, particularly related to storm damage assessment and insurance claims.
  • Familiarity with insurance claim processes, especially for storm-related damage.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
