About the position

The Feed Sales Manager at Central Valley Ag is responsible for overseeing the sales of feed products and services to producers in the trade area. This role involves developing marketing strategies, ensuring sales retention, and creating growth plans for the Feed Division. The manager will also supervise a team of sales employees, providing coaching and support to enhance their performance and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and oversees marketing and business plan for the Feed Division.
  • Communicates marketing directions of the Feed Division to feed employees and other division employees.
  • Ensures retention of current feed sales.
  • Creates and communicates plans for sales growth in the Feed Division.
  • Establishes and monitors sales budget for individual sales employees.
  • Creates and monitors accountabilities/goals for the feed sales team.
  • Oversees contact with strategic feed accounts.
  • Acts as a coach/mentor for individual feed sales employees.
  • Works one on one with the feed sales team for improved development and communication.
  • Assists in the analysis of profit margins by sales employees.
  • Oversees training needs of feed sales team.
  • Develops and organizes sales plans and promotions.
  • Establishes ride along protocol to develop and monitor time management and prospecting practices.
  • Manages and organizes sales activities to ensure proper timeliness and content.
  • Applies animal nutrition recommendations and theories through sales calls and sales force.
  • Works with feed vendors to aid in profitability and growth.
  • Ensures the utilization of the CRM tool.
  • Complies with current Central Valley Ag credit policies.
  • Maintains and promotes a safe work environment.
  • Assists other divisions and locations as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Background in Animal Nutrition required.
  • One to three years' related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner and establish effective working relationships with internal operations and external customers.
  • Demonstrates safety as a priority in the workplace.
  • Ability to identify and handle conflicts sensibly, fairly and efficiently.
  • Encourages employees to acquire new or advanced skills, knowledge and viewpoints by encouraging learning and training.
  • Strong competencies in computer applications including Microsoft products.
