About the position

The February Acceleration Academy Site Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of the Acceleration Academy programming for Boston Public Schools. This role involves managing academic and enrichment teachers, ensuring operational management during the program, and fostering a nurturing environment for students to accelerate their learning during school vacation weeks. The coordinator will work closely with school leadership to implement standards-aligned lessons and engage students in enriching activities, ultimately aiming to narrow achievement gaps and enhance students' academic and social-emotional skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Acceleration Academy planning and programming.
  • Supervise academic and enrichment teachers, paraprofessionals, and all program personnel.
  • Manage operational aspects of the programming during the 4-day acceleration program.
  • Collaborate with BPS Central and teachers to execute Acceleration Academy goals.
  • Serve as an instructional leader and supervise teachers in planning and delivering lessons.
  • Work with the instructional leadership team to recruit and oversee student registration and engagement efforts.
  • Create class rosters and assign teachers to appropriate grade levels.
  • Coordinate with BPS Central and the principal to order materials and attendance incentives.
  • Oversee submission of pre-program deliverables and manage the operational budget.
  • Participate in mandatory professional learning and district-led coordinator meetings.
  • Communicate with teachers and conduct staff meetings before the program.
  • Integrate academics and enrichment to address targeted instructional standards.
  • Prepare classroom and instructional materials prior to the program start date.
  • Engage in family outreach and communication to maintain high participation rates.
  • Ensure 80% or higher daily attendance by conducting outreach to families.
  • Collect evaluative student work and record performance as guided.
  • Submit end of program deliverables and participate in feedback activities.
  • Oversee program logistical duties such as arrival, dismissal, and cafeteria duty.
  • Coordinate with food services and custodial staff for meal delivery and facility maintenance.
  • Spearhead emergency protocol response and track time of BPS teachers.

Requirements

  • Highly qualified teacher with relevant DESE certification.
  • Participation in required 12-hour inclusion professional development.
  • Skilled in leadership and project management.
  • Experience in instructional coaching.
  • Demonstrated effective family engagement skills.
  • At least three years of professional teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching Students with Disabilities and English Learners.
  • Experience in developing and implementing project-based curriculum.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multilingual ESL certified.
  • Special Education certified.
  • Current assignment in a relevant leadership position.
  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Previous experience successfully coordinating expanded learning programs.

Benefits

  • Compensation of $65 per hour worked, up to 52 hours.
  • Stipend includes 32 program hours, 10 hours of professional development, and 20 hours of planning and preparation time.
