About the position

Under general supervision, organize and coordinate the formation, development and operation of the programs and projects related to human services for Muckleshoot families; supervise staff and volunteers, provide referrals and other information to the public regarding human services issues and assistance. Prepare grant applications and funding proposals. This position is a term-limited position that will be placed under an employment agreement for a 3-year term, with the intent to complete the following: During the first year of term, will be expected to review, reorganize, and grow the program. During the second year of term will need to coordinate finding a trainee as a potential replacement. During the third year will be expected to train replacement.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and coordinate the formation development and operation of programs and projects related to the health, care and general well-being of families.
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance in the formation of human services programs.
  • Secure and manage funding from Federal, Tribal, State and local resources that fit within the long-and short-term strategic plan and goals of the Tribe.
  • Prepare grant applications and funding proposals, identify funding sources and stimulate community interest.
  • Assess community resources and identify unmet needs in human services for families.
  • Participate in program development and research, as needed.
  • Serve as the Tribal representative on a variety of advisory and executive boards and committees.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with a variety of social service agencies and other organizations in the community to remain abreast of available human services for families.
  • Monitor and review budget expenditures, program goals, policies, activities and community recommendations.
  • Plan, organize, direct and coordinate objectives and strategic planning for TANF and the General Assistance program.
  • Act as representative for appropriate activities and issues relevant to the TANF, General Assistance DV prevention and Sexual assault prevention as requested by the tribe.
  • Represent the Tribe at policy level discussions and negotiations with public and/or private interest in an effort to fulfill and maintain MIT goals, objectives and interests.
  • Ensure the development, implementation, and maintenance of program information systems; ensure that the necessary reports are adequately prepared, including reports for compliance purposes.
  • Maintain familiarity with rules, regulations, MIT policies and other requirements for compliance with program funding sources.
  • Refer clients to Tribal or community agencies and other resources.
  • Assist in the development of assigned budget, and ensure expenditures of approved budget in conformance with MIT fiscal procedures and in compliance with granting agencies ties to the various programs.
  • Develop and maintain a confidential client filing system.
  • Prepare a variety of newsletters and other printed materials; market programs; organize and update information; coordinate mailing and distribution of materials.
  • Review service plan and perform follow-up to determine quantity and quality of service provided client and status of client's case.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of statistical records and reports related to job activities.
  • Access and record client, Tribal and agency resource information.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Services, Social services, Public administration or related field.
  • Two (2) years supervisory and/or management experience.
  • Proven track record of success in handling customer complaints and diffusion techniques.
  • Experience working with Native American clients a plus.
