About the position

The Family Court of St. Louis County is seeking a Deputy Juvenile Officer I for the Delinquency Department. This role involves supervising juveniles referred to the Juvenile Office, conducting assessments, preparing reports for court, and providing community-based supervision services. The position requires a commitment to enhancing community safety and supporting juveniles and their families through various interventions and resources.

Responsibilities

• Supervise juveniles referred to the Juvenile Office, both formally and informally.
• Conduct interviews with juveniles and their guardians, and perform comprehensive assessments and treatment plans.
• Prepare written reports with recommendations for court hearings and testify in court as needed.
• Provide home and community-based supervision services, linking families with appropriate resources.
• Offer crisis management and supportive services to juveniles and their families.
• Utilize evidence-based interventions to increase accountability and enhance community safety.
• Transport juveniles to scheduled appointments and ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Participate in Juvenile Office sponsored programs and serve on committees as requested.
• Conduct public speaking engagements on behalf of the Juvenile Office and liaise with schools and police.
• Attend and complete a minimum of 24 hours of approved job-related training per year.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related social/behavioral science (Master's preferred).
• At least one year of professional experience working with youth and families or equivalent training and experience.
• Strong writing, oral communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to work with a diverse population.
