About the position
The Family Counselor II at Child and Family Service (CFS) is responsible for implementing clinical therapeutic services aimed at strengthening families and fostering the healthy development of children. This role involves assessing, designing, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic interventions to achieve successful case outcomes. The counselor will also provide on-call crisis response and must maintain 24/7 availability. The position requires effective communication and collaboration with diverse individuals and families, ensuring a commitment to family-centered, community-based services.
Responsibilities
- Implement clinical therapeutic services for families and children.
- Link assessment, design, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic interventions.
- Provide on-call crisis response with 24/7 availability.
- Communicate and work effectively with diverse social, economic, ethnic/racial, and cultural backgrounds.
- Establish effective working relationships with at-risk families.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Over two years of experience working with parents/caretakers and children who have experienced harm or trauma.
- Demonstrated ability in relevant aspects of clinical practice.
- Commitment to empowering families as effective problem solvers and nurturing agents.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in therapeutic assessment, interviewing, and recording.
Nice-to-haves
- Direct use of a variety of therapeutic skills (i.e. solution focused, CBT, DBT) in family therapies.
- Experience in individual therapy with children and adults.
- Experience in marital therapy and group therapy.
- Knowledge of dynamics of sexual assault and domestic violence.
