About the position

The Family Connections Specialist, Infant/Toddler position is graded as a Grade 18. Step 1 on the Classified salary schedule for this grade is $53,065. Progression on the salary schedule is subject to the terms and conditions laid out in the IACE Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position serves as a member of the State-wide Child Care System providing community-based services to child care providers, serving infants and toddlers. The role includes mentoring individuals entering the child care workforce and supporting quality early care and education programs through technical assistance and training utilizing best practices. Responsibilities include consultations, maintaining data, providing instruction, implementing grant programs, and community outreach to providers, employers, and community groups.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a mentor to individuals and programs providing early care and education programming to infants and toddlers.
  • Provides universal technical assistance to introduce individuals/programs on the licensing process and Spark - Oregon's quality improvement program.
  • Provides direct technical assistance, professional development, and resources, including grant opportunities, in support of small business owners.
  • Supports child care programs through job-embedded professional development including site visits and ongoing feedback.
  • Assists providers in creating professional development plans and applying for quality improvement grants.
  • Designs and implements provider recruitment plans to meet child care demands.
  • Leads long-term intensive quality improvement efforts with targeted groups of child care providers.
  • Prepares program curriculum based on the needs of the region/cohort.
  • Researches, writes, and edits an educational newsletter for professionals, parents, and advocates.
  • Provides regular time-sensitive documentation of work for funders.
  • Trains new staff on specialized computer programs and methods of providing adult education.
  • Provides outreach services to the Spanish speaking population in Linn, Benton and Lincoln counties.

Requirements

  • Strong educational background in early childhood education.
  • Position requires a Step 10 or higher on the Oregon Registry or a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Coursework in infant and toddler development AND one or more years experience in an early childhood program with a focus on infants and toddlers.
  • Must meet the requirements to become an Oregon Registry Master Trainer within two years of employment.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to pass a Central Background check.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prefer two years experience providing technical assistance and training to early childhood programs.
  • Prefer bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
