Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in materials engineering or equivalent
  • Practical experience in failure analysis
  • Experience in optical and scanning electron microscopy
  • Hands on knowledge of degradation mechanisms of various types of materials in service
  • Knowledge of heat treatment, coatings, machining, welding, casting and forging processes
  • Able to research and assimilate new knowledge quickly
  • Excellent abilities for communication
  • Strong aptitudes for teamwork
  • Leadership, motivated, autonomous, dependable and focused on results
  • Very good knowledge of English to read and understand, on a daily basis, documentation and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct metallurgical investigations of engine hardware, organize and perform detailed examinations and appropriate laboratory analyses (visual and microscopic examinations, metallurgical evaluation, etc.) to determine failure mechanisms and establish the physical causes of distress
  • Work closely with internal customers to determine their needs and ensure completion of the investigations within the agreed schedule
  • Prepare detailed reports with supporting evidence
  • Manage and review outsourced metallurgical investigations
  • Review metallurgical evaluations reports on engine hardware
  • Participate and contribute to the promotion of the company's pillars (EH&S, Ethics & Quality)
