About the position

This position is responsible for teaching assigned courses, fulfilling departmental, school/college, and university-wide faculty responsibilities, and maintaining an appropriate level of scholarship. In addition to teaching, this position also serves as one of two Field Coordinators who work under the supervision of the Field Director to manage the field education program, serving as the primary liaison between students, community agencies, and the school to ensure high-quality, educationally sound placements. This role involves coordinating student internships, developing agency partnerships, providing training and support to field instructors, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. This position starts Fall 2025, pending budget approval.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a full-time load of 18 credit hours.
  • Design curriculum through the development of instructional plans to meet course competencies.
  • Develop activities and assignments which support lesson objectives.
  • Deliver instruction in face-to-face, synchronous online, and asynchronous online formats.
  • Teach both BSW and MSW courses.
  • Receive 6 credit hours of release in the role of a Field Coordinator.
  • Interview BSW & MSW students and match them with agencies.
  • Help maintain student placements, including writing learning contracts and conducting evaluations.
  • Handle field disruptions and replacements as needed.
  • Facilitate/guide the progress of students toward achievement of course and program outcomes.
  • Define clear learning outcomes.
  • Assign grades and maintain course/student records in accordance with FERPA regulations.
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with students.
  • Maintain regular on-campus office hours for student accessibility.
  • Schedule, supervise, debrief, and evaluate students in clinical, internship, observation, and field experience settings.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Post textbook information for assigned courses by the posted deadlines.
  • Participate in assessment activities associated with taught courses.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master of Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • Two years of post-MSW experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Teaching experience at undergraduate or graduate levels at an accredited university.
  • Ability to work closely with students in preparing them for careers in social work.
  • Skills and competency for written and oral scholarship.
  • Active involvement with social work professional and academic organizations.
  • Familiarity with CSWE Commission on Accreditation's Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
