About the position

The Faculty position in HVAC at Scott Community College involves teaching courses and assessing learning outcomes in HVAC. Assignments may include alternative delivery methods, evening courses, and multiple sites. The role requires demonstrating excellence in teaching and service, as well as a commitment to the mission and values of the community college. The position is full-time with a contract of 167 days.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches courses in accordance with outcomes identified in the established course development model.
  • Participates in the design of appropriate courses and programs of instruction.
  • Demonstrates satisfactory preparation and meets with classes as scheduled.
  • Establishes a clear and accurate syllabus for each class within the approved syllabus template.
  • Communicates course objectives, instructional processes, evaluation policies and methods, and attendance policies to students.
  • Evaluates and records student performance and achievement on a regular basis.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate office hours to assist students.
  • Collaborates with support services to assist student success in the classroom.
  • Monitors and communicates with students about academic progress.
  • Participates in outcomes assessment measurements adopted by EICCD.
  • Serves on college and district committees, work groups, and task forces.
  • Attends and participates in all scheduled faculty, college, district, and advisory meetings.
  • Assists college in the recruitment and retention of students.
  • Demonstrates professionalism at all times.
  • Commits to quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of students.
  • Retains professional qualifications that meet or exceed those required for the position.
  • Actively maintains professional development activity and records.
  • Participates in professional meetings and workshops.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in a HVAC field or special training.
  • At least 6,000 hours of relevant tested work experience in the occupational area.

Nice-to-haves

  • Five years of relevant field experience in HVAC.
  • Experience teaching at a community college.
