About the position

The Faculty Adjunct position in the Sonography Program at Touro University California is designed for individuals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring future diagnostic medical sonographers. This part-time role involves didactic teaching, mentorship, and participation in academic responsibilities, contributing to the development of the curriculum and the overall educational experience for students in the program.

Responsibilities

  • Development and delivery of a portion of the curriculum, including exam item writing and proctoring
  • Prepares for and teaches courses every semester
  • Develops an assessment plan to ensure course effectiveness
  • Mentorship of Touro University DMS students
  • Plan and conduct academic advisement sessions
  • Participate in admissions process
  • Participate in advisory board meetings
  • Provide service on College and University committees
  • Attend and participate in departmental meetings
  • Participate in continuing education activities
  • Perform other faculty duties as appropriate and determined by the program director or dean
  • Contribute to new knowledge through research activities, presentations, publications, potentially obtaining grants and/or contracts, clinical trials, and other scholarly work
  • Provide reports and other documents as requested by program director or dean

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Licensed by ARDMS, CCI, or ARRT
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer
  • Strong commitment to the professional development of sonography
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills
  • Active participation in professional societies at the local, state, and/or national levels, including SDMS, AIUM, or SVU

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate of $125/hour for individuals with doctoral degrees and $60/hour for non-doctoral degree adjunct faculty
