About the position

The position is responsible for the efficient day-to-day operations by properly maintaining the building, equipment, grounds, and other physical assets of the organization. This includes a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure that all facilities are functioning properly and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Meets with supervisor each day to discuss special needs, problems and assignments.
  • Completes all demand work requests and preventive maintenance work orders in a timely manner as assigned.
  • Inspects building and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions or needed repair, making notes and recommendations.
  • Performs minor electrical maintenance including replacement or repair of fixtures such as wall switches, outlets, light bulbs, tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, and minor appliances using appropriate tools.
  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance such as repairing or replacing leaking pipes, faucets, drains, unclogging drains and toilets, trenching and laying new lines, and replacing lines for appliances.
  • Performs minor HVAC maintenance including replacing filters, belts, cleaning coils, and operating building management control systems using appropriate tools.
  • Performs minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work including preparing surfaces and applying paints, stains, varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, and small woodworking projects.
  • Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space to accommodate user needs and utilize office space using various tools and equipment.
  • Maintains appropriate equipment and records to ensure compliance with regulations imposed by agencies such as OSHA, CMS, State Health Dept., AAAHC, NFPA, etc.
  • Performs driving duties of Hughston fleet vehicles as assigned.
  • Able to work flexible hours to ensure special projects and preventive maintenance are completed on an appropriate schedule.
  • Enhances growth through departmental meetings and outside education programs.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in maintenance or similar field required.
  • Experience in healthcare maintenance field preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Trade or vocational school diploma preferred.
  • Skill with the use of precision tools, operating and cleaning equipment, and repairing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other technical drawings.
  • Skill in numerical calculations.
  • Must maintain a good driving record.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.
