About The Position

This position involves assisting skilled workers with the repair and maintenance of district facilities. Responsibilities include a wide range of tasks from carpentry and electrical work to plumbing and painting. The role requires inspecting buildings and grounds, performing minor repairs, and completing work orders. Additionally, the Facilities Tech will be responsible for moving, assembling, and installing furniture and equipment, as well as maintaining tools and equipment.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry 45 pounds and over on a daily basis.
  • Ability to perform frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
  • Ability to perform frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching.
  • Ability to drive frequently.
  • Ability to work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
  • Ability to work in environments with extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards.
  • Ability to work around machinery with moving parts.
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.

Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of district facilities, including repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken glass.
  • Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment.
  • Complete repairs as directed on work orders or by maintenance foreman.
  • Move, install, assemble, and repair all school furniture and playground equipment as needed.
  • Hang pictures, mirrors, whiteboards, bulletin boards, projection screens, towel dispensers, and other items as required.
  • Install door and window assemblies and hardware, including window glass and screens.
  • Install ceiling and flooring materials.
  • Repair and install concrete as needed.
  • Operate light truck to haul heavy equipment.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate equipment and use tools according to established safety procedures.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  • Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.
