About the position

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the daily and long-term maintenance of all St. Mark parish and school buildings and grounds. This role includes overseeing electrical, plumbing, lighting, and heating systems, ensuring safety and security, and maintaining a proactive approach to facility needs. The supervisor will also manage janitorial services and coordinate with volunteers for maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance to minimize failures in plumbing, mechanical, electrical, lighting, and heating systems.
• Diagnose problems and make repairs to facilities, utilizing broad experience in construction, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work.
• Communicate daily with the supervisor and participate in staff meetings and retreats.
• Ensure facilities are locked nightly and perform routine lighting checks.
• Maintain an organized work garage and workspace, and manage inventory of maintenance supplies.
• Oversee janitorial contractors and provide direction to volunteers assisting with maintenance and cleaning tasks.
• Fill in for janitorial duties as needed and set up for special events.
• Maintain grounds, including watering and managing irrigation systems, and keep an accurate inventory of equipment owned by the parish.
• Provide input for budget preparation related to maintenance and supplies.

Requirements

• Experience in carpentry, construction, painting, plumbing, HVAC, and cleaning.
• Strong communication skills and mechanical knowledge.
• Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and plumbing systems.
• Proven experience as a facility maintenance worker or handyman.
• Basic understanding of natural gas HVAC systems.
