About the position

The Operations Manager of Facilities, Orchards, and Business at the Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center (TFREC) in Wenatchee, WA is a high-level position charged with positioning the Center for long term success, by providing vision, filling CAHNRS and WSU's mission through oversight of a talented on-site management team. The Operations Manager leads and guides the TFREC Facilities, Orchards, and Finance/Business Administration management team (Operations). The Operations Manager develops practices based on WSU policies to support and assist the management team to ensure the successful functioning of the center. The Operations Manager is responsible for a comprehensive plan to streamline and provide efficiencies to allow the management team to focus on their areas of expertise, including assessing and analyzing facilities and finances of the center and delegation for implementation to appropriate management team members. Responsibilities include high-level oversight of day-to-day operations of the units that manage facilities, orchards, and finance/business administration at all TFREC locations, preparing and administering TFREC budgets, monitoring expenses, and maintaining TFREC budget authority. The Operation Manager is responsible for prioritizing facility, orchards, and finance/administration needs with input from the management team and TFREC Programmatic Research Lead in service of TFREC and works closely with College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) Operations, WSU Facilities Services, and interacts with other Research and Extension center directors/managers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide the TFREC Facilities, Orchards, and Finance/Business Administration management team.
  • Develop practices based on WSU policies to support the management team.
  • Ensure the successful functioning of the center.
  • Streamline operations to allow management team to focus on their areas of expertise.
  • Assess and analyze facilities and finances of the center.
  • Delegate implementation tasks to appropriate management team members.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of facilities, orchards, and finance/business administration.
  • Prepare and administer TFREC budgets.
  • Monitor expenses and maintain TFREC budget authority.
  • Prioritize facility, orchards, and finance/administration needs.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
