About the position

The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of multiple facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean, and operational. This hands-on role involves direct participation in repair and maintenance tasks, managing vendor contracts, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The position requires active involvement in managing a team and maintaining the physical appearance and functionality of the facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities and exterior property for safety, cleanliness, and repairs.
  • Actively perform maintenance tasks, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall patching, painting, and general upkeep.
  • Ensure facilities are prepared for daily operations, events, and meetings.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors and contractors, participating directly in repair activities as needed.
  • Oversee renovations, additions, or new constructions, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Identify and complete repair projects, collaborating with contractors as necessary.
  • Manage and resolve work orders promptly, with direct involvement in repairs.
  • Schedule and perform detailed maintenance tasks, such as patching, painting, and hardware repairs.
  • Conduct preventative and emergency maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Perform grounds maintenance, including snow removal and trash cleanup.
  • Oversee custodial services, stepping in for hands-on tasks when needed.
  • Test system performance and troubleshoot as necessary.
  • Maintain inventory of parts and ensure tool readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, safety standards, and internal procedures.
  • Collaborate on budget planning with a focus on maintenance costs.
  • Provide after-hours or on-call support for alarms and emergencies.
  • Report on-site, starting duties promptly, and be available for extended hours when required.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and appointments.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of FDA 21 CFR 1271, FDA 21 CFR 820, AATB standards, ISO Standards, cGMP/CGTP, other relevant regulations/standards, and internal organizational policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead and manage direct reports, including recruitment, performance reviews, and development plans.
  • Establish annual goals for the team and address performance improvements as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, with an expectation of hands-on involvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of previous experience in facility maintenance work required.
  • 3+ years of managerial experience required.
  • EPA Universal Certification required.
  • HVAC License/Certification highly preferred.
  • Electrical Technician Certification preferred.
  • Valid Class “C” Texas driver's license required.
  • Clearance of favorable background investigation required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiar with basic computer skills, including email and mobile software applications.
