About the position

The Boiler/Facilities Maintenance position at The J.M. Smucker Company involves operating, repairing, and maintaining gas-fired boilers and auxiliary equipment essential for the production of jams, jellies, and preserves. The role emphasizes preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring the efficiency of various facility systems, including HVAC and refrigeration. The ideal candidate will possess a current Ohio Boiler License and demonstrate mechanical aptitude, with a commitment to safety and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate, repair, and maintain gas fired boilers and auxiliary equipment to generate steam.
• Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and improvement functions to plant facilities including wastewater treatment and HVAC systems.
• Support fire system maintenance and repair activities.
• Conduct environmental inspections and manage waste handling and recycling efforts.
• Maintain refrigeration systems including process cooling towers and fluid coolers.
• Troubleshoot and maintain hot water systems and water softening equipment.
• Interface with outside contracted services for facility equipment maintenance.
• Engage in improving utilities efficiencies and support PM and AM activities.
• Utilize eAM system for work orders, PM, and inventory control.
• Maintain and improve technical documentation for facility operations.

Requirements

• Must hold a current State of Ohio High Pressure or Stationary Engineering Boiler License.
• Minimum of 2 years of mechanical knowledge or experience.
• Ability to pass skill assessments including Math and Electrical Aptitude.
• Must be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
