About the position

This is skilled maintenance work involving a variety of tasks in the building trades including air conditioning, electrical, masonry, cabinetry, and general construction areas. Ability to work well in a team environment. Reports to Facilities Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Must be familiar with shop practices, operations and use of equipment, hand and power tools, and materials to safely and efficiently carry out job functions for self and subordinates.
  • Assesses job needs. Responsible to order and obtain materials and equipment in a timely manner. Manually maintains work and operation records.
  • Reads blueprints, electrical schematics, work orders, diagrams and mechanical or hand drawings. Works from drawings and sketches to plan and implement a wide variety of projects.
  • Completes from the most basic to very advanced building maintenance, such as plumbing repairs, electrical repairs and installation, painting, dry wall finishing and installing, and advanced skills in carpentry. May be required to lift up to 60 pounds from one location to another. May be required to climb up to a 30' extension ladder.
  • Equitably supervises, schedules and prioritizes assignments. Uses initiative and independent judgment to make decisions in the field. Ability to develop and train subordinates.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must have a combination of training related to the construction trades or building maintenance.
  • Must have a minimum five years of experience in building or construction trade.
  • Knowledge of basic computer and mathematical skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Operators Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
