About The Position

Installs and repairs electrical systems including low and high voltage, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components primarily relating to the buildings and grounds by performing the following duties. Analyzes circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate service or replace electronic devices and systems. Determines need for, analyzes and makes necessary running adjustments, repairs and overhauls. Receives wiring diagrams, specifications and instructions from supervisor covering emergency and scheduled repairs, installation and electrical inspection work to be performed. Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers. Installs, repairs and maintains power distribution cables splicing pieces as required. Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment. Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables. Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices. Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards. Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings. Fabricates parts if not commercially available using machine and hand tools common to the trade. Installs, repairs and diagnoses cat 6 cable and related devices. Notifies coworkers of potentially dangerous electrical equipment. Prices and orders supplies for jobs and assures appropriate supplies are stocked. Adheres to safety, food safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations. Reports food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

Requirements

  • Training in electrical skills from junior technical college or vocational school
  • Completion of formal apprenticeship
  • 5 years related experience and/or training
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Possess valid state motor vehicle operator's permit and company issued permit to operate electrician's cart, forklift truck, scissors lift and bucket truck.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical to obtain Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes, properties of materials and principles of operations electrical equipment.
