The position involves developing and performing experimentally the bench and ship layout, fabrication of parts from raw stock, and the assembly, installation, and mating operations required for the building of prototype product structures such as airframes. The goal is to create or prove engineering design to the point where sufficient information is gathered for delegation to production personnel or subcontractors. The role also includes incorporating major revisions in prototype structures, working closely with authorized liaison personnel to suggest design changes, and determining coordination points for building tooling or parts. The individual will perform all necessary operations to prove completion and coordination of prototype product structures, working from general configuration and preliminary engineering design data. Additionally, the role requires improvising shop aids, instructing production personnel during the initial production run, assisting in static testing of structural parts, and performing functions of Metal Worker/Fitter, Senior and General Modification Mechanic, and Assembler-Installer classifications. The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain company licenses, certifications, and training as required for assigned tasks.
