About The Position

Responsible for meeting customer needs by assisting the Value Stream Supervisor with leading the Value Stream following Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity (SQDIP). This role involves assisting with Continuous Improvement and Kaizen events to reach established goals and initiatives, providing timely information, and assisting with employee performance appraisals and accountability. The Fabrication Lead will also help identify training needs, provide training, and float within the responsibility area as needed. Additionally, this position is responsible for securing the building after shifts and opening it before production begins each day. Key operational duties include completing nesting for all new material on Laser and Plasma machines, ensuring correct work is prioritized according to FIFO principles, managing missing part shortages, and facilitating a smooth night-shift transition.

Requirements

  • An understanding of lean principles and the ability to lead employees in the use of the lean tools.
  • Open to understanding and implementing new processes.
  • Must lead by example with positive attitude, following safety rules and work procedures, etc.
  • Organization and time urgency – must be able to work on multiple projects with deadlines.
  • An understanding of BOM’s and product flow.
  • Willingness to learn and understand operations involved with area of assignment. This may include welding, CNC machine operation, installation and fabrication machinery.
  • Completing and complying with annual Hazardous Waste Management Training for waste management, storage, transport and record keeping
  • Prompt and reliable attendance.
  • Excellent communication skills must be used to regularly communicate and/or discuss issues affecting production, equipment, personnel, safety and their resolutions with management team before shift changes and as necessary.
  • Ability to walk and stand on concrete for 90% of the shift.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Public speaking will be necessary to lead others in safety, training, group meetings, etc.
  • Computer proficiency, specifically word documents and spreadsheets.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Value Stream Supervisor with leading the Value Stream following Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity (SQDIP)
  • Assisting Value Stream Supervisor with Continuous Improvement and Kaizen events to reach established TBEI goals and initiatives
  • Providing timely information to employees, Value Stream Supervisor and other areas as required (i.e., documentation, reports)
  • Assist with employee performance appraisals and help hold employees accountable for performing, following safety guidelines and attendance expectations
  • Assist the Value Stream Supervisor with identifying training needs, provide training, and float within the responsibility area where needed
  • Securing building following shifts and opening building prior to production each day
  • Complete nesting for all new material on Laser and Plasma machines, including expedites.
  • Insure Cutting and Bending has the correct work in front of them following FIFO principles.
  • Manage missing part and/or part shortages as they arise; including locating missing parts and driving expedites.
  • Facilitate Night -Shift transition, insuring a clean hand-off of priorities through the shift.
  • Must work in a safe manner following safety procedures including wearing PPE (personal protective equipment), completing maintenance requests and communicating hazards to co-workers and management.
  • Must assist with root cause analysis and resolution of accident investigations.
