About the position

The Eye Tech position at the Department of Specialty Care Ophthalmology Clinic involves providing daily patient care and managing the flow of pod activities. The role requires excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as proficiency in using various medical equipment and software. The Eye Tech will assist doctors in patient care, perform technical workups, and ensure the maintenance of equipment used in the clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly and professionally assists the doctor in patient care.
  • Performs technical workups, patient interviews, and special testing.
  • Communicates with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, changes in schedule, symptoms, and surgery scheduling.
  • Maintains and cleans all equipment being used, reporting to the supervisor if not in working condition.
  • Returns phone calls to patients and pharmacies.
  • Assists in minor surgery.
  • Efficiently and accurately interviews patients and documents histories.
  • Accurately performs refractions, lensometry, keratometry, tonometry, visual fields, amsler, muscle testing, pupil exams, and topography.
  • Scribes readily when the doctor desires.
  • Performs testing such as IOL, Bscan, Immersion, Fundus, OCT, and Visual Fields.
  • Cleans and stocks rooms as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certified ophthalmic technician preferred.
  • Previous experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Ophthalmology.
