About the position

Silvus Technologies is seeking an Export Compliance Specialist who will report to the General Counsel on the Legal and Compliance team. The successful individual in this role will work collaboratively with our legal and sales teams in the areas of ITAR/EAR regulations, OFAC sanctions compliance, and ensure successful implementation of trade compliance programs. This position is based at Silvus Technologies’ headquarters in the heart of vibrant West Los Angeles, CA, and is on a hybrid schedule; a minimum of 3 days onsite per week is expected. On-site days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monitoring and analysis of global trade regulations, including EAR, ITAR, OFAC sanctions, and foreign trade controls, to proactively assess the impact on business operations.
  • Document and continuously improve export compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Conduct due diligence screening of customers, vendors, and other third parties against restricted party lists.
  • Provide basic export compliance training and guidance to employees across the organization.
  • Investigate and respond to potential export compliance incidents, implement corrective action plans, and report violations to appropriate authorities in accordance with federal regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Legal, Supply Chain, Sales) to ensure export compliance is embedded throughout the business.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for export-related audits, inquiries, and correspondence with government agencies.
  • Determine export license requirements and submit license applications as needed.
  • Oversee appropriate record management on DECCS.
  • Draft and submit TAA applications, working in conjunction with the sales team.
  • Monitor changes in export regulations and requirements.
  • Ensure company-wide compliance and implement corrective action plans as needed.
  • Foster a culture of compliance within the organization.
  • Assist with other duties, projects, and initiatives assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required.
  • 3 or more years of experience in legal compliance.
  • 1 or more years of experience working in export/trade and ITAR/EAR compliance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident) due to clients under U.S. federal contracts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in international relations, business, economics, or a related field.
  • Experience with aerospace, defense, or defense technology sectors.
