About the position

The Expo position at Hard Rock International is crucial for ensuring that food orders are prepared and served in a timely manner. This role acts as a communication bridge between the kitchen and service staff, ensuring that all orders for a table are ready simultaneously and that food is served warm and accurately. The Expo is responsible for maintaining kitchen organization, cleanliness, and safety standards while also managing the flow of orders and product knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely cooking of orders so that all items for a table are ready at the same time.
  • Communicate effectively between service and kitchen staff to ensure order quality and accuracy.
  • Receive and order products as needed.
  • Prepare recipes and menu items according to specifications.
  • Label, date, cover, and refrigerate prepped items appropriately.
  • Perform opening, closing, and side duties including setting up and breaking down kitchen equipment and stations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, line, expo, dish room, and back dock.
  • Clean dishes and operate the dishwasher as required.
  • Practice safety and sanitation standards consistently.
  • Recycle products where possible.
  • Read and interpret order tickets or Kitchen Display System items accurately.
  • Assemble orders while double-checking product quality and specifications.
  • Demonstrate extensive product knowledge and handling procedures for various order types.
  • Act as a liaison between Heart-of-the-House and Front-of-the-House staff.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, and lifting up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or move for up to 8+ hours.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, and a loud environment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills verified by peers and supervisors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues and recommend solutions.
