Cleveland Clinic’s M60 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) is a 15-bed, Level 4 unit that provides expert care to adult patients with suspected or confirmed seizure disorders. Caregivers in this unit are deeply passionate about caring for both the physical and mental aspects of epilepsy, as many patients experience high levels of anxiety due to the uncertainty of the diagnosis process. M60 caregivers have said that caring for the whole person brings meaning and purpose to their day and enjoy the comfortable pace of this collaborative and supportive unit. A caregiver in this position works full-time on rotating 12-hour shifts from 7:00am to 7:30pm or 7:00pm to 7:30am. This will rotate every 6 weeks.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One-year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
  • Prior neuro experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
