About the position

The Experienced Daycare Teacher at Kiddie Academy of Steele Creek is responsible for creating a safe, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate educational environment for children. This role involves daily planning, management, and supervision of the classroom, ensuring that the physical, social, and emotional needs of the children are met. The teacher will also lead and supervise an Assistant Teacher or aide, while addressing concerns from parents, children, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the physical, social and emotional needs of the children are met daily.
  • Implements policies and procedures to keep the children healthy and safe.
  • Creates activities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving appropriate to children's developmental levels.
  • Assists and supervises children during all activities.
  • Maintains the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the classroom according to NAEYC guidelines.
  • Completes all Academy and classroom paperwork, including daily notes and attendance reports.
  • Participates in staff meetings, Academy events, and parent meetings as requested.
  • Prepares and implements classroom lesson plans and schedules.
  • Develops instructional aids and materials for classroom activities.
  • Assists children with meal times and cleanup.
  • Ensures classroom and outdoor equipment are in good working condition.
  • Directs activities of other staff in the classroom to ensure orderly functioning.
  • Interacts with parents to encourage family engagement and maintains open communication.
  • Maintains the Family Information Board and other classroom bulletin boards.
  • Schedules and conducts parent-teacher conferences throughout the year.
  • Ensures compliance with all licensing regulations required by the state.
  • Lifts no less than 40 pounds to at least waist high consistently throughout the workday.
  • Accepts temporary work assignments as needed.
  • Assists with planning and implementing Academy-wide events.
  • Meets with prospective families and communicates with potential new customers.
  • Assists in evaluating personnel within the classroom.
  • Schedules field trips and speakers for monthly programs as directed by management.
  • Prepares the classroom portion of the monthly newsletter.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and be 18+ years of age.
  • 2+ years' experience working in a childcare center.
  • Must meet all state and local licensing requirements for the position (NC Early Childhood Credentials - NCECC or its equivalent).
  • Must pass all state medical requirements and have a clear background check.
  • Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the workday.
