About the position

The Chiller Service Technician position at Texas AirSystems involves performing inspections and maintenance on industrial mechanical systems, particularly air-cooled and centrifugal chillers. The role requires strong customer service skills and collaboration with project managers and service coordinators. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing equipment defects, overseeing installations, and maintaining documentation related to services performed. This position is essential for ensuring the efficient operation of HVAC systems and providing high-quality service to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance and repair of industrial mechanical systems including air-cooled chillers, centrifugal chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and air handler units.
  • Diagnose and repair machine and equipment defects including electronic, mechanical, and electrical components.
  • Oversee installation and operation of various mechanical systems.
  • Lead role in defining and developing training materials and tools for chiller/HVAC maintenance.
  • Be available to work nights or weekends on a rotating basis for emergency service needs.
  • Maintain good working order of company vehicle and report any mechanical issues.
  • Maintain all relevant documentation related to services performed, including make, model, and necessary test measurements.
  • Identify and report potential business opportunities to supervisors and managers.
  • Schedule and coordinate services with customers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training.
  • 10+ years of experience in chiller/HVAC maintenance or mechanical engineering.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing designs or schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Electrical knowledge and EPA Certification (i.e. HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer).
  • Ability to train junior technicians.
