About The Position

The Jewish Museum of Maryland (JMM) seeks an Exhibit Coordinator to support the organization as it continues to build a robust exhibit schedule following capital updates and expansion of gallery spaces. The Exhibit Coordinator, reporting to the Exhibits Manager, will work cross-departmentally supporting JMM staff in exhibit development and execution. In this role, with the support of the Executive Director, the Deputy Director and Exhibits Manager, your responsibilities will include: Supports project development for gallery-based projects, including maintaining schedules, attending team meetings, articulating project goals and strategy briefs, and general administrative tasks. Supports the installation and maintenance of JMM galleries across the campus, taking an active role in the gallery preparations between exhibits and maintenance throughout the run of staged shows. Provides support for internal and external exhibit curators, most typically the latter. Assists in the development, production and installation of exhibit graphic elements. Assists in the asset procurement process, including image, film, and audio. Assists in loan processes, working with both institutions and private individuals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; alternatively, 1+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) preferred
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • May require occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Requires extensive sitting, standing, and walking
  • Must be willing to complete background checks as required by current or future contracts
  • Occasional Sunday and evening hours are required for this position.

  • Knowledge of Jewish communal sector is a plus.
  • Experience in cultural heritage is a plus.
  • Experience working within a Jewish communal setting a plus
