About the position
Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, VA, is currently hiring a Full Time, Day Shift Exercise Physiologist. This is an intensive Cardiac Rehab program under Pritikin, that also offers Pulmonary and Vascular Rehab. The position involves assisting in coordinating and implementing all phases of education and exercise therapy programs for the rehabilitation of persons with cardiovascular and pulmonary disease. The Exercise Physiologist will assist in the collection of data to complete the initial patient assessment, develop an exercise plan, and create a plan for education about lifestyle modification for Phase I and II cardiac/pulmonary rehab patients. Responsibilities also include monitoring and treating patients during exercise, assisting with modification of the exercise plan, and conducting patient education.
Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating and implementing education and exercise therapy programs for rehabilitation.
- Collect data for initial patient assessments.
- Develop exercise plans and lifestyle modification education for patients.
- Monitor and treat patients during exercise sessions.
- Modify exercise plans as needed.
- Conduct patient education.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Level Degree in Exercise Science or Kinesiology.
- BLS certification required.
- Must obtain ACLS certification within one year of employment.
- New graduates will be considered if an internship or clinical rotation in Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab has been completed.
