About the position

This position involves providing supervised and monitored exercise programs, breathing retraining, and patient education specifically for cardiac and/or pulmonary patients. The role includes performing exercise stress tests under the supervision of a physician or cardiac nurse. Additionally, the individual will educate other health professionals and students about cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. There may also be opportunities to provide care as delegated under the direct supervision of a physical therapist when part of a prescribed physical therapy program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervised and monitored exercise programs for cardiac and pulmonary patients.
  • Conduct breathing retraining and patient education.
  • Perform exercise stress tests under supervision of a physician or cardiac nurse.
  • Educate health professionals and students about cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Provide care as delegated under the supervision of a physical therapist.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an exercise-related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Two years of clinical experience in a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program preferred.
  • Knowledge in exercise stress testing.
  • Ability to communicate knowledge of healthy lifestyle behaviors to cardiac/pulmonary patient population.

Nice-to-haves

  • ACLS certification at hire or prior to annual review.
