About the position

The Estimator position at Nucor Rebar Fabrication involves preparing accurate estimates of quantities for fabricated reinforcing bars, mesh, and related products for bidding projects. This role is crucial for ensuring competitive market participation and timely proposals that meet customer needs. The position requires adherence to safety standards and participation in an estimator training program, with opportunities for skill development and progression in estimating responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates of quantities of fabricated reinforcing bars, mesh, accessories, and related products for bidding projects.
  • Adhere to Nucor Rebar Fabrication's safety programs and standards.
  • Progress through the NRF Estimator Training Program.
  • Utilize Takeoff Software and aSa Estimating Software proficiently.
  • Review plans to assess project scope and bidding strategy with guidance from trainers and the Estimating Lead.
  • Complete complex projects with minimal supervision as determined by the Estimating Lead.
  • Prioritize workload effectively and communicate capacity to the Estimating Lead.
  • Track plan revisions and bid updates against previous work.
  • Communicate professionally with sales teammates regarding the estimating and bidding process.
  • Conduct self-reviews of work to verify scope, completeness, and accuracy.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the CRSI Manual of Standard Practice and related manuals.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Demonstrable ability to read and understand construction type drawings including structural, architectural, and civil type drawings.
  • Knowledge of concrete structures and CRSI/ACI standards.
  • Proficient working knowledge of aSa Estimating.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two-year technical degree from an accredited school or college.
  • Previously demonstrated reinforcement bar estimating experience.
  • Three years of experience as a reinforcing bar or structural steel detailer or equivalent construction/field estimating experience.
  • Working knowledge of plan takeoff software (i.e. Bluebeam, Construct Connect Takeoff or PlanSwift).
