About the position

The Estimator plays a crucial role in commercial concrete construction, focusing on estimating and pursuing project awards. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain client relationships. The Estimator will manage multiple projects simultaneously while performing administrative duties, utilizing take-off software to digitize drawings and input quantities into pricing spreadsheets. The role involves collaboration with various teams to develop project plans and schedules, ensuring client satisfaction throughout the process.

Responsibilities

• Estimate several projects simultaneously while performing administrative duties.
• Conduct internal preparation meetings upon project award.
• Meet with the Field Operations Team and Safety Department for preliminary planning.
• Communicate with clients to ensure project plans are acceptable.
• Develop a critical path schedule and discuss sequencing logic.
• Meet with form work suppliers to enhance efficiency.
• Discuss rebar and post tension quantities with subcontractors.
• Analyze proposals and scopes of work from clients and subcontractors.
• Lead internal estimate review meetings.
• Prepare client presentation materials such as pour plans and 3-D models.
• Price and reconcile drawing changes between sets.
• Brainstorm for optimal construction methods for complex structures.
• Solicit input from team members and share lessons learned.
• Attend post-bid interviews as needed.
• Occasionally walk the job site for feedback on future estimates.

Requirements

• Direct experience in commercial concrete construction.
• 4-year bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills with all organizational levels, customers, and vendors.
• Highly organized and comfortable handling large files and confidential data.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to visualize 2-D drawings in 3-D and explain methods simply.
• Driven to learn more about the technical aspects of concrete construction.
