About The Position

PCI is seeking an experienced Joinery, Estimator for its West Coast Marine operations based in Seattle, WA. This individual will be responsible for performing quantitative takeoffs of Joinery scopes, establishing labor productivities for estimates, and maintaining positive relationships with vendors to solicit competitive material and equipment pricing. They will also solicit subcontractor pricing for work done outside of our self-perform group, understand market conditions including competitive approach, backlog, level of risk for work and other factors for establishing margin percentages, and be involved in internal bid reviews with supervisors and project teams. The role participates in customer alignment objectives of the branch by creating and maintaining positive customer relations, assists in the hand-off of secured projects to the Operations Team, and assists in other duties as assigned such as change order management or billings depending on the project(s). This position is safety sensitive.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 3-5 years of experience estimating shipbuilding and joinery projects.
  • A strong understanding of joinery systems on Commercial, MSC and US Navy vessels.
  • Shipbuilding experience in New Construction and/or Repair/ Modernization.
  • Strong ability to read, understand and interpret specifications and drawings for Joinery scopes of work.
  • Strong record of establishing and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and cost analysis.
  • Ability to accurately read schedules for sequencing and durations of applicable scopes of work.
  • Proficiency with computer takeoff & estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff and Quickbid.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Experience working with union representatives is preferred.
  • Local to Seattle, WA.
