About the position

The Estimator position at CQC Home involves preparing detailed cost estimates for construction and renovation projects, focusing on kitchen and bathroom remodeling as well as whole home renovations. The role requires building and maintaining relationships with subcontractors and ensuring quality and compliance with project specifications. This position is based in Durham, NC, and is not remote, requiring candidates to be located in the Raleigh-Durham area.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and complete all estimates and proposals in a timely and accurate manner for the customer.
  • Keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to your job.
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, maintaining them over time.
  • Contract for all subcontractor work as needed, ensuring proper licensing and insurance.
  • Share responsibility for holding subcontractors accountable for quality, cost, schedule, and on-site behavior with the Construction Manager.
  • Run a post-production analysis on all completed projects to determine accuracy of original estimates and budget adherence.
  • Perform any other duties or special projects as assigned by the General Manager.
  • Ability to travel at least two times a year for educational purposes.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years carpentry or contractor, labor-intensive construction experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years construction estimating experience.
  • Able to prepare job estimates, decipher blueprints, and analyze renderings for accurate quoting.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Understanding of architectural and construction administration services, including budgeting, scheduling, planning, specifications, and working drawings.
  • Familiarity with building codes, materials, and remodeling estimating techniques.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and review construction plans and job costs.
  • Working knowledge of software applications used within the company, including Word, Excel, Google Mail, and Sheets.

  • Experience in product development and identification of new business opportunities.
  • Experience in problem-solving for subcontractors.
